Ask any innkeeper for the one thing they can’t start a day without, and most of us will give you the same answer. Coffee. We love making it for our guests, of course. But every now and then, it’s nice to have someone else make the coffee for us.
Luckily, Cape Cod has become a seriously good coffee destination over the past few years. Local roasters, viral lattes, converted swimming pools (yes, really), and small independent shops so cute you won’t want to leave. Whether you want your coffee with a side of ocean air or you just need a solid latte before you head out on the trails or to the beach, there’s a Cape Cod cafe for that.
Here are seven of our favorite spots to grab a cup near our Cape Cod bed and breakfast.
Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry
173 Main St, Yarmouth Port
Diagonally across the street from us, Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry is as close as a coffee run gets. Opened in November 2023 by owner Kelly O'Connell, it's known for its creative lattes and is home to the famously viral Fluffy Seagull latte, made with espresso, milk, peanut butter syrup, and Marshmallow Fluff. In the summer of 2024, it went viral on TikTok. Hour-long lines started forming by the door, and the shop was selling around 400 Fluffy Seagulls a day.
Fair warning: the hype has not completely gone away. If you want one without the wait, come early (they open at 7 a.m.) or stop by in the off-season. And while you're in line, take a look around. The shop is stocked with some of the cutest Cape Cod sundries that you’ll have a hard time leaving without.
Nirvana Coffee Company
3206 Main Street, Barnstable
Just up Route 6A from us, Nirvana Coffee Company is one of those cafes you walk into and immediately want to stay the entire day. Inside, it's warm and bright, and outside you’ll find chairs ready with blankets for those cooler mornings. The sort of small-touch hospitality we always love to see.
Order the pistachio latte. Everybody will tell you to. We’re telling you to. It’s the right move.
And, if you need a second breakfast or early lunch after leaving the inn, the pressed bagel sandwich with pesto is as good as it sounds.
Three Fins Coffee & Cacao Factory
251 Crowell Road, Chatham
If you only make it to one cafe on this list for the full experience, pick Three Fins. The Chatham location opened in 2024 inside the former Chatham Health and Swim Club. Rather than filling in the pool, owners Catherine Bieri and Ron Reddick leveled the sloping bottom and turned it into the main seating area. You order upstairs, then take your coffee down into the pool.
We love Three Fins so much that it's actually the house coffee we serve guests every morning here at the Inn on Main. Supporting local business owners is important to us, and their beans happen to be the best we've found. Woman- and veteran-owned, Three Fins roasts its own coffee beans and makes its own chocolate bars on site. Through the glass walls, you can watch the cacao beans being roasted and the big melanger turning them into chocolate while you sip your latte and snack on a pastry. Their original West Dennis cafe at 581 Main Street, West Dennis is also still open if Chatham is too far a drive.
Old King’s Coffeehouse
44 MA-28, West Yarmouth
At Old King's Coffeehouse, the drip is good enough to drink black, which isn't something we say lightly. The King's Cold Brew is smooth, and you can order it by the cup or take home a half-gallon if you really want to commit. On the specialty menu, we love the Sea Salted Caramel Macchiato and the Blackberry Lavender Iced Matcha.
Gluten-free options are available across the regular menu and in the pastry case, so no one in your group has to settle.
Kinlor Coffee Roasters
1323A Route 28, South Yarmouth
Kinlor has quickly made a name for itself. They roast their beans in-house, make their syrups in-house, and have one of the only Yama cold brew towers on the Cape.
It’s a tiny shop with limited hours, but the coffee is excellent. And if coffee isn't your thing, you can still try one of their delicious seasonal syrups in a tea or matcha latte. The flavors change throughout the year, which gives you another reason to stop back the next time you're on the Cape.
Harbor Fox Coffee Bar
150 Main St (Rt 28) West Dennis
Over on the Bass River Marina side of town, Harbor Fox Coffee Bar is a small, charming spot with a rotating menu of creative lattes and homemade syrups. The seasonal drinks shift with the tides, so there's always something new to try.
But here’s the real reason to stop: the Split Cup. One cup, two drinks, split down the middle. If you can’t decide between the Pumpkin and the Brown Butter Toffee latte, you don’t have to. It’s a lovely development in the world of indecisive coffee ordering.
And if you do find a flavor you love and want to go all in, you can order a mocha bucket to sip on all day, complete with a souvenir bucket to take home and reuse.
Great Awakening Craft Coffee
20 Independence Drive, Hyannis
Tucked into a small plaza near the Cape Cod Mall, Great Awakening Craft Coffee might not be the first place you’d expect to find some of the best coffee on the Cape. Walk through the door, though, and you’ll quickly see why people make the trip.
Andrew and Inna Taylor have created a warm, welcoming space centered around locally roasted craft coffee. It’s a great stop when you’re heading into Hyannis for the day, especially if you want to start with a really good cup before exploring the shops, harbor, or Main Street.
And if you’re staying at the Inn on Main, this is one of those places you might not have found without a local recommendation, which is exactly why we love sharing our favorite spots with guests.
A Few Notes for Your Cape Cod Coffee Crawl
· Check the hours. While all of these shops are open year-round, their hours may change seasonally. It's worth checking before you head out, especially if you're visiting during the quieter months.
· Expect lines at the Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry and Harbor Fox. Especially on summer weekends.
· Order the house specialty. You can get a regular latte anywhere. The fun of a coffee crawl is finding a new favorite you wouldn’t have ordered at home.
